Advanced Telecommunications Systems Curriculum Workshop

Workshop Agenda

Springfield Technical Community College

Workshop will include:

1. Future trends in three areas: lightwave, networking and wireless
2. Theory and application sessions in three areas: lightwave, networking and wireless; 5 hour workshop sessions per telecommunications area with workshop materials provided
3. Sessions will be hands-on

Lightwave:

• Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing - Theory and Applications
• Advanced Test and Measurement
• Optical Communications - Future Trends
• Prerequisite: Basic Understanding of Fiber Optics Communication

Networking:

• Hands-on Communications Protocol Analysis
• Network Monitoring
• Troubleshooting
• Maintenance and Optimization
• Prerequisite: Basic Understanding of LAN Technologies and the OSI Model

Wireless:

• Cellular Fundamentals - First and Second Generation Systems
• The Wireless Internet - 3G and Beyond
• Introduction to Wireless Data Systems
• Prerequisite: Basic Understanding of Telecommunications
